In contrast, OpenAI's ChatGPT received significantly less attention. Some vendors expressed a preference for Claude, citing a perceived decline in the quality of ChatGPT and OpenAI's offerings.

During a HumanX panel, Bret Taylor, co-founder and chairman of OpenAI's board, defended Sam Altman, characterizing him as a "remarkable leader of AI" and expressing strong confidence in his integrity.

Competitive Dynamics

OpenAI remains in a close race with Anthropic, with both companies experiencing rapid growth. Data suggests Anthropic is gaining traction with business users. While OpenAI may no longer be the sole leader, its competitive position remains strong.

OpenAI's Strategic Response

In an effort to maintain its market position, OpenAI has introduced a new $100 monthly subscription tier for ChatGPT, which includes enhanced access to its coding tool, Codex. This move aims to boost adoption and potentially attract users from competitors like Claude Code.

Srinivas Narayanan, OpenAI's CTO of B2B applications, emphasized the breakneck speed of AI evolution, noting that significant advancements occur "every month, and sometimes every day." He highlighted agentic coding as a prime example of this rapid transformation, which has surpassed initial expectations for its impact on software engineering.

Currently, the tech community's primary focus is on agentic AI achievements, as other AI applications, particularly in creative fields, have yet to fully mature. The swiftness with which companies are delegating tasks to these automated agents is remarkable and indicative of the unpredictable and fast-paced nature of the current AI landscape.
